Buying A Property To Retire In Rosarito Now
A trend among middle aged clients who have taken a long, hard look at assisted living   in the US –and gone South for better options

If you think that looking at retirement living options while in your forties and fifties is too early, think again. Actually, clients doing so have made this a great year for real estate in Rosarito.


Retiring in Rosarito BeachMax Katz, owner of Baja Real Estate Group, states that roughly  half of the customers buying real-estate in Rosarito and Ensenada, “are now enjoying their properties on weekends and vacations with their teenage children,”, says Katz, “knowing that eventually they will turn this into a full time home”.  These buyers may be on to something. The median cost of assisted living in the U.S. is $3500. In California, it is $3750.

Financial experts have stated that making a retirement move takes careful consideration. “But a CCRC requires extra diligence, since typically it requires a large upfront payment (averaging a quarter-million dollars) that may not be easily or fully refundable, plus high continuing monthly rents”, according to Forbes Magazine.

CCRs and Assisted Living Communities
CCRCs (Continuing Care Retirement Communities) in the U.S. have what is called a “Buy In”. Basically, this is a sizeable up-front deposit.  In addition, you have your monthly fees, starting at around  $3200. These may include three meals a day,   amenities and 24 hour security. Upon passing away, only 70% to 80% of the deposit goes to your estate.  
Other assisted living communities in the US offer a different model.  You have no “Buy In”, but monthly fees staring at $3200 with one to three meals included.  However house-cleaning is extra. If you need help three times a week, in can add up to $1000 or more every month.

18 thousand tourists flown away from Cabo in just three days in remarkable air bridge operation
The aftermath of Odile left 26,000 tourists stranded in Baja California, away from their homes, and with no communication means. But in a remarkable operation, the Mexican Government, the military and the private sector coordinated an “air bridge” that would move 18,000 tourist out of the affected region in three days.

odile-puente-areoAmericans, Europeans, and others  were flown to major cities such as Guadalajara, Toluca, Mexico City and Los Mochas.  American passengers arriving at Tijuana were swiftly taken to San Diego.

Odile hit Baja California on Sunday, causing major damage to the International  San Jose Los Cabos Airport. By Tuesday, tens of military and commercial airplanes were flying out of the runway to lead tourists to safety.  Aeroméxico, Volaris and other Mexican airlines, were quick to react to the emergency,   establishing hotlines,   offering free trips to those in need and honoring fares for clients who had previously purchased their tickets.

HGTV recently aired two episodes portraying American buyers as they acquire their dream properties in Rosarito; there is talk about new developments coming and   inventory under $200,000 is becoming scarcer every day.
